Update On My Video Project

I am getting much closer to finishing my Video that I am producing for my sisters non profit organization. Her organization is amazing but something that I don't think I would be able to do. They take in cats that have issues and nurse them back to health so that they can be adopted. I've been working on this project for some time. I'll put in a few hours here and there and some times manage to get some work done on the weekend. I've been putting off working on it though because I've been needing some sound effects. Sound effects are not cheap so I had been doing a little research on the best place to buy sound effects. I found what looked to be like a couple very professional sites. I ended up buying my sound effects from http://www.buysoundeffects.com. The shipping was paid for which was a big bonus for me. Now that I have my new sound effects library I'll be able to finish the video. So I should probably stop blogging about it and start working on the project. I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

Summer Music

Nothing seems to go together better than hot summer nights and live music. In fact, some of my best memories are of those long hot evenings and enjoying concerts with my friends. One of my favorite songs that seems to sum this up is Tim McGraw song about "bbq stain" I love living in a place where I can walk to live music. Every Wednesday night in the park down the street from my house they have local bands playing. These free events attract a wide variety of people from through out the city. Some are my neighbors while others are random people passing through on a bike ride or run or walk. There are elderly people, younger adults like myself, and of course parents with their kids. I don't know if its true or not but people truly seem to be happier during these nights of heat and music. I love to walk down with my girlfriend with some snacks and a bottle of wine to enjoy the festival atmosphere. Maybe I enjoy these times so much because eight months out of the year it is cloudy and rainy and cold. What ever the reason I can't deny my love for this time of year and the music that I am lucky enough to be a part of. If you have not been to an local outdoor concert in some time I would suggest you make it a priority in the next couple weeks. Summers go fast, so get out there and start enjoying the music.

Dirty Radio Music

I am currently working camps for young kids. The other day I happened to be coaching a soccer camp with young kids. They ranged from six to twelve years old. I decided to give them an award since they had been good all week and allowed them to pick a radio station to blast from my car while we did soccer drills. I was a little surprised when most kids wanted 100.3 which plays a lot pop and hiphop. It shocked me when the kids started singing along dirty lyrics of a popular song right now. It just did not seem right. Did their parents let them listen to this music? That got me thinking about my own upbringing and I tried to remember what I was listening to on the radio as a child. All that come to mind are oldies songs and maybe some alternative which included such artists at Pearl Jam and such. I am not so incident to believe that even oldies songs have sexual references and double meanings. It just that the music that kids are listening to today seems down right inappropriate. Well, as you expect a good coach to do, I had to run to change the radio station. This brings up larger issues. Should radio be more censored?
